Toon Janssens, the creative mastermind behind Forbidden Fruit, is renowned for his dynamic and fully improvised live sets. Using iconic machines such as the SH-101, TR-707 and Juno-106, he crafts a unique blend of Chicago acid, Detroit techno, Italo disco and boogie funk during his analog cross-genre performances – entirely on the spot. By live-manipulating sounds and building tracks from scratch, he creates a warm, organic sound that emphasizes direct interaction with his instruments and audience. This way, he brings the authentic old-school vibes straight to the modern dance floor. Performing as Forbidden Fruit, but also known as beatmaker TITLE and through his recent project Soft Focus (released on San-kofa Rhythm Records), he has played live at Paradise City, Boomtown, Contrair, Amsterdam Dance Event, Ampere, and Soulful Sessions. As a producer, he has collaborated with artists like Chrome Brulee, DELV!S, Up High Collective, and Baloji. His latest release, the "Late Night Strut EP", dropped on WeZienWel Records is available on all digital platforms, including Spotify, YouTube, SoundCloud, Bandcamp, and Beatport. The EP is available on wax in your favorite record store. Forbidden Fruit's DJ sets are infused with an energetic mix of electro, disco, boogie funk and house.
