WIM ROMBOUTS

A new music freak lands in our agency: Wim Rombouts, co-founder of Four On The Floor and active in the electronic music scene since the early 90s. His musical journey began with the purchase of two SL1200s, which he used to master a whole range of turntablism skills under the name DJ Tish in his own hip-hop shop "Skillz" in Hasselt. Soon he was organizing numerous hip-hop parties. Big names like TLP, DJ Grazzhoppa and Mig One (Starflam) colored the Limburg hip hop scene. But so far for Hip-Hop. After a weekend of partying in Ibiza - he came back completely in love with the house music scene and smoothly switched to house and tech-house, without denying his funk and hip-hop roots. Under the alias DJ CeCeM, he spent a decade playing soulful electronic music with funk and jazz influences. Under this alias his career flourished with residencies at Transit East, The Zoo and Katsu Club. International and national gigs at Space Ibiza, Bar Kuta (Bali), Dockside (Cape Town), Cafe d'Anvers, Club Industria, La Rocca, The Noxx and many more. During this time he shared posters with pioneers of the electronic music scene such as; Bob Sinclar, Pete Heller, Eric Morillo, David Morales, Green Velvet, Ian Pooley and Moby. Today, under his own name, Wim is working on a new and surprising reinterpretation of House and Jackin' House. He uses less obvious samples than the traditional soul, funk and disco elements. His first release in this style, entitled "Meteen Anders", is a tribute to his musical heroes Arno and Henny Vrienten. He sampled the iconic songs "Les yeux de ma Mere" by Arno and "PA" by Doe Maar. Phill Collins, Rick James, Hall Oates, Nick Cave and Grace Jones have also passed through his sample mill. As a DJ he continues this unique style with a mix of all kinds of electronica ranging from deep vibes to sunny & sexy grooves to dark beats but always bass-driven with a touch of funk, jazz, motown and blues.
